Immediate Past Rabbi: Gad Krebs

Rabbi Krebs was born to a traditional family in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He completed all his schooling there; matriculating at King David Linksfield. In 1997 he and his entire family moved to Sydney where he studied a BCom Finance and Information Systems at the University of New South Wales.

It was during this time that he decided to explore his Jewish roots and spent time at Yeshiva in the Old City of Jerusalem. Upon completing his degree Rabbi Krebs made Aliya where he has served in the Israeli Defense Force.

He initially studied in Yeshivat Har Etzion under the tutelage of Rabbi Aaron Lichtenstein and subsequently began studying for his semicha under Rabbi Shlomo Riskin and Rabbi Chaim Brovender at Yeshivat Hamivtar, Efrat.

In 2005, after finishing his Semicha, Rabbi Krebs took up a position at Kehillat Masada acting as the youth Rabbi along with Rabbi David Blackman and the Jewish Learning Centre, providing Shiurim all over the city.

In 2007 Rabbi Krebs was appointed as the full time Rabbi of Kehillat Masada.

Rabbi Krebs maintains a number of Shiurim both private and public on a variety of topics and to varied audiences and is always eager to meet with congregants.
He is married to Tamar and they have four children.

Chazzan : Micha Essers

Micha was born in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, a coastal city in South Africa. He attended Carmel College and began his undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and finished at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

Micha then spent a year at Yeshivat Hakotel in the Old City of Jerusalem before returning to Johannesburg where he completed his MBA at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Micha and his wife Tracy arrived in Sydney in 2017 where Micha took up his position for Kehillat Masada, making him a third generation Chazzan. Micha has a full time job as a project manager for DHL, and they have a son, Raphael.
